The following are links to other sites that we’ve found useful.
Transition SFV Youtube Channel: Videos we find useful or inspiring.
Transition Network main Wiki site: The main site of the original Transition Initiative and a good place to dig around to find out what’s going on around the world.
Resilient Communities: One of two sites that goes into depth on rhizome, a theory of constructing local resilient societies that gets its inspiration from the world around us. Numerous examples on this site of how people are already applying these lessons to the world around us, for good or for bad.
TSFV Workshop #1: The Future is About Resilience: The presentation from our first workshop, thanks to the Post Carbon Institute.
The Transition Handbook (Green Books, 2008): The handbook that describes the Transition Initiative and the tools it provides.
Transition Culture blog: Rob Hopkins, one of the founders of the Transition Initiative, has a blog detailing what Transition looks like from the inside.
Jeff Vail: On Energy and Resilient Futures: A second link that gets into resilient communities while analyzing future technologies in the face of peak oil. Has an especially interesting article on a linked resilient set of communities that used to be in the Amazon that may serve as a model of the San Fernando Valley’s future.
Our Sister Org: Transition L.A.: This is the website of the folks who originally brought Transition into the L.A. area and now they serve as a hub for those communities “over the Hill” in Los Angeles properly. To see some local, fine examples, check them out!
The History of the San Fernando Valley: An excellent compendium on the ins and out of the San Fernando Valley. Well worth the time to look and learn about your history and sense of place.
